SURVEYING INSTRUMENTS (Surveying Systems)

The purpose of a land survey is to accurately know a position on land, or to establish an indicated position on a blueprint on the actual ground. Positions are expressed in three-dimensional coordinates that are calculated using angles and distances. Land surveying equipment measures angles, distances and heights.

Today, in addition to map making, land measuring devices are widely used in building skyscrapers and in guiding machines that dig tunnels, to name just a couple of applications.

TOPCON develops and offers various lines of measuring equipment and systems for land surveying. We classify land survey equipment into three categories, based on the purpose, usage and data used : General-purpose, Laser, and GPS. And to optimize the capabilities of this equipment, we have developed systems that include their own data processing software.

The most unique among our offerings is the Total Station. It works with a personal computer and measures angles and distances simultaneously. The Total Station is our own invention, created with the help of our combined expertise in optics, precision machinery and electronics. We also offer system software to store and compute the data generated by the Total Station.

We have a guiding policy in developing precision, high quality, labor-saving new products. It is to take into consideration a combination of factors that include safety, efficiency, environmental concerns, and the on-site performance of our equipment.
